“KSAN’s Live Jive,” a collection of live historic musical rarities from the late 1960’s and 1970’s by some of the most important musical artists of a generation is now being offered for sale as a CD, (with a 12 page booklet,) an album digital download, and as a single track digital download. It is a benefit for the Haight Ashbury Free Medical Clinics Inc. and their Rock Med program.
Artists on “KSAN’s Live Jive” include Jesse Colin Young, Grateful Dead, Doobie Brothers, Persuasions, Boz Scaggs, Pointer Sisters, Stoneground, Santana, Cold Blood, and Jefferson Airplane. There are also KSAN jingles and audio clips from KSAN personalities Tom Donahue, Dusty Street, Richard Gossett, Stefan Ponek, Edward Bear and Wes “Scoop” Nisker.
KSAN Jive 95, the groundbreaking San Francisco radio station began broadcasting one of the first “Freeform” radio formats on May 21, 1968. KSAN was there for the beginning of the “San Francisco Sound” and would regularly broadcast live music from various venues from around the City. The Fillmore, Winterland, the Boarding House, Pacific High Recording, Wally Heider Recording, and the Record Plant were just some of the places the early KSAN live broadcasts originated from.
