The Fairmont San Francisco hosted the 1st Annual “Do It For The Love Rockers Ball” on Wednesday, September 21st. The evening of music and inspiration raised $325,000 for DIFTL’s mission to bring children with severe challenges, people with life-threatening illnesses and wounded veterans to live music concerts.
The evening began with a VIP reception in the Penthouse Suite with guests such as James Curleigh, Executive Vice President of Levi’s; Pat Monahan of Train; and Carrie Barnes from Days of Our Lives. The custom-made Levi’s Do It For The Love jackets hung chicly in the pool table room. Red roses adorned the piano and conversations and cocktails coalesced in the living room and terrace.
The Fountain Room was booming with DJ Logic mixing beats while bids began on our 38 silent auction items. Fun photo shoots filled with laughter and rock star props filled the other side of the hall.
The main event had everyone glued to their seats starting with the video that shared Hope and Steve’s story, the inspiration for Do It For The Love. Lisa, a dedicated supporter, shared the story of her nephew Sam’s wish grant experience. To everyone’s delight, Sam then rode up on the stage in his wheelchair to say “thank you” to the crowd.
Guests bid on unique and silent auction lots including a signed guitar from Tim McGraw and other musical memorabilia; a Ronnie Lott autographed jersey; a VIP tour of Lucasfilm; collectible wines; and a variety of Fairmont vacations around the world. The live auction began with emcee and auctioneer Liam Mayclem racing from one side of the room to the next as bidders excitedly battled for exclusive experiences which included a meet and greet package with Carlos Santana with airfare and accommodations at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino; San Francisco 49ers experience with Michael and Sara Franti and Levi’s Executive Vice President James Curleigh; and VIP tickets to BottleRock Napa Valley with a guitar signed by BottleRock 2015 artists such as No Doubt and Snoop Dogg. Guests enjoyed a three-course dinner and drinks from beverage sponsors Ca’ Momi, Veuve Clicquot Champagne, JaM Cellars, Casa Noble Tequila and Double Cross Vodka.
The night culminated in a 90 minute musical performance featuring Michael Franti and Spearhead and special guests Pat Monahan of Train, Matt Nathanson, DJ Logic, Tracksuit Wedding’s Libby Anschutz and Ali Frankfurt and other guest performers. Guests were treated to a number of collaborative performances including a powerful rendition of Prince’s “Purple Rain” in addition to some of the artists’ top hits such as Train’s “Drops of Jupiter”; Matt Nathanson’s “Come on Get Higher”; and Michael Franti and Spearhead’s “Say Hey (I Love You)”.
By the end of the night, every guest was on the dance floor and the first annual Rockers Ball was overflowing with generosity, inspiration and love collectively celebrated together.
To date, they have granted over 700 wishes for concerts including Shawn Mendes, Motley Crue, Ziggy Marley, Stevie Wonder, Train, Kenny Chesney and Paul McCartney. Proceeds from the Rockers Ball will help make many more musical wishes come true.
